The funeral counselor, visibly upset by the lower cost of services, remarked, “This is the cheapest at-need agreement I have ever written!” This comment left Adeline feeling ashamed and undervalued. After reflecting on the experience with her family, she realized the guilt she felt stemmed from the funeral staff prioritizing profit over her family’s needs.
