About the Travis County Indigent Burial & Cremation Program

The Travis County Burial and Cremation Program provides assistance to those who are unable to afford the cost of direct burial or direct cremation.  Eternal Peace works with Travis County to provide affordable and direct burial and cremation services along with death certification for those who are eligible. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Travis County Burial Program, the decedent and household must meet the following requirements:

  • Household Gross Income must be below 100% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines within the past 30 day period. Click here to see if you meet county standards for eligibility.

  • Decedent must be a Travis County resident at the time of death or pass in Travis County.

  • Applicant must provide proof that he/she is the Legal Next of Kin.

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age or an emancipated youth.

  • Households must not have assets or resources more than the allowable limit of $2000.

Required Documentation

Required Documentation include:

  • Photo ID for all Legal Next of Kin and Decedent

    • Drivers License​

    • Military ID

    • State ID

    • Government Issued ID

  • Social Security Card / Number for Decedent (if available)

  • Proof of relationship between Legal Next of Kin and Decedent

    • Birth Certificate​

    • Marriage License

    • Legal Documents

  • Proof of Travis County Residency

  • Completed Application with Notarized Documents

  • For Veterans, DD214 copy is required

Cemetery Rules

​

1. Once burial date and time have been determined, there will be no changes. 

​

2. The cemetery service will be no longer than 20 minutes, starting promptly at the designated time of service.

​

3. Cemetery service will be closed casket with no exceptions.

​

4. There is no official funeral procession. Directions to the cemetery will be provided to the family.

 

5. All attendees are expected to remain in the designated service area and always supervise their children. 

 

6. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be prohibited from attending or asked to leave the service. 

 

7. Family members will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. No inappropriate behavior, including abusive language, will be tolerated at the Funeral Home or Cemetery.

 

8. All attendees are expected to park in designated parking areas. 

 

9. All attendees will need to leave the cemetery service immediately.
